Update On All Plants (Including Key Lime!)

Update On All Plants (Including Key Lime!)

Hey guys, sorry bout the lack of updates lately, I have been a very busy boy with running my business and working at my part time job and taking care of all my plants and animals that I haven't had too much time to post on here.
Well, all of my plants are doing magnificent, except for a few of my Asian Pear Trees and some Kiwi Plants that have died, for reasons unknown to me. It was very upsetting but I imagine everyone who plants as much fruit trees as I have has had this problem.

All of the plants are getting bigger and bigger every day it seems! Some of my Lemon Trees that slowed down in growth after transplanting seem to have kicked themselves back into gear and are growing quite nicely. Orange Trees are growing nice thick big leaves and the Asian Pears and Golden Delicious Apple are growing very quickly. Grapefruits seem to be doing fairly well too and my Avocado pit has cracked completely and I now have a tap root which is getting nice and long, once it gets a bit longer I am going to plant it.

Now, I have started germinating my Key Lime seeds and they have all sprouted roots and I have planted three of them so far, I need to get some more soil and pots before I can plant the rest. I'm so excited about them you cannot even imagine!

On another note I am going to have to get some more pots to transplant my Orange Trees which I'm not overly looking forward too because they are so young but they are growing so big in the pots I have them in and there are too many and it needs to be done so they are not fighting for nutrients and slowing their own growth down.

Here are some pictures I took on the night of August 21st, 2013 of my plants. I hope you all enjoy them.

Finally! Lime Seeds!

Finally! Lime Seeds!

Well, I normally wouldn't make another post the day after I made another one, but yesterday during a trip to the grocery store after looking for so long I had finally spotted them! Key Limes!! They are not the easiest thing to come by here, it is almost always Persian or Tahiti limes which, if you've bought limes at a grocery store before you will know that neither of those two types have seeds.

So of course, as soon as I seen the Key Limes on the shelf I ran and bought a bag of them. I ended up opening up roughly four or five of them and I totally didn't expect for them to have as many seeds as they did! Out of the four or five that I opened I got around a good twenty seeds out of them.

I have the twenty seeds right now germinating and a couple of them right out of the fruit look like they'll be sprouting pretty soon which is pretty exciting for me. Limes are my favorite fruit and they are the tree that I've wanted to plant the most so this is very exciting for me!

Anyways, I just thought I'd give a quick post about them and as soon as they sprout up, you know I'll have some pictures!

Until next time!

Au revoir!

A Split Avocado

A Split Avocado

Well, it seems that I am finally going to have an Avocado Tree growing again soon in my home! The original pit that I started with this time around was cracking and looking like it was doing good but it ended up rotting out to my disappointment. But on a brighter note, the second one that I started germinating is looking fantastic!
The second avocado pit that I started germinating was much bigger than the first one and is now fully split at the bottom and going up the sides. So now if you were to look at it from it's bottom you can actually see the tap root growing out of it and hopefully it will make it's appearance outside of the pit soon! It didn't take long the first time I germinated an avocado to get the actual plant growing after the tap root came out.

The only thing different that I had done this time around was that I peeled off the brown outer layer that covers the actual seed. It seems to have made just a tiny bit of difference in speed of growth. So if you're trying to germinate an avocado pit, just remember that not all pits will germinate. Also, you can leave the brown outer layer on it. The top will dry up and crack and it doesn't make much difference in speed of growth whether you keep it on or peel it off in my experiences with both peeling it off and not peeling it. As with all beautiful and wonderful things, these things take time.

If you are trying to grow a fruit tree from seed or pit, keep in mind that these things take time. Have patience, have fun, and enjoy watching your seedlings sprout up and grow!

Until next time!

Au revoir!

I'm A Bit Overwhelmed By Fruit Trees!

I'm A Bit Overwhelmed By Fruit Trees!

Well, as you can probably tell by the title, my fruit trees are growing great! My Lemon Trees are now roughly two months old now and are growing great! I have way too many Orange Tree's on my hands right now that have to be separated very soon or else their roots are going to start mingling. That will be my next job with my beautiful little trees. I have a bunch of Kiwi Plants, Asian Pears and Pink & Ruby Red Grapefruit trees now as well as one Golden Delicious Apple Tree.
The Asian Pears & the Golden Delicious Apple Tree refuse to take clear photos, instead they blur out, but if you know me by now, I'm going to post them anyways haha.

Now on another note, I'm still waiting for my Cherry Pit to germinate as well as the rest of my Golden Delicious Apple seeds. My Avocado pits seem to be doing well too. I took off the brown shell myself which seems to have helped them a bit. The smaller one is changing colours and has a look to it that seems like the plant is growing inside now, so hopefully I'll get a tap root pretty soon. As well as my bigger avocado pit has a huge crack in the bottom leading all the way to the top on both sides. Hopefully I'll see some progress there soon.

Now, without further ado, here are some updated photos I took today of my plants!
